What Customers Are Saying
The 2.25" Pinback Button Set is the complete three-part supply for the most popular and versatile size in our lineup: front shell, mylar cover, and locking spring pinback. Every component is built to American Standard sizing and made in the USA for a clean, consistent crimp in your 2.25" button maker.
The 2.25" button is the classic campaign and photo button size — large enough for a face, a slogan, or full artwork to read clearly from across the room. Order the 10-set sample pack to test your setup, or scale up to 5,000 sets for production runs.

American Standard Sizing — Why It Matters
These parts are built to American Standard 2.25" sizing. A 2.25" button measures exactly 57.15 mm. Most foreign-made machines are built to a metric "58 mm" specification — and that fraction of a millimeter is the difference between a button that crimps tight and one that jams the die or falls apart. Even though the sizes sound interchangeable, American Standard 2.25" parts do not typically work in foreign-made 58 mm machines.
Badge-a-Minit machines use a different specification as well — if you own one, use our dedicated 2.25" B.A.M. Pinback Button Set instead. Not sure what machine you have? Call us at (972) 985-5074 and we will help you identify it before you order.
Use Case Ideas for 2.25" Buttons
The 2.25" button is the workhorse size: big enough for photos and full designs, familiar enough that everyone knows exactly what to do with one. Popular uses include:
- Campaign and election buttons. The classic political button size — candidate names, slogans, and party artwork read clearly at a distance.
- Photo buttons. Faces stay recognizable at 2.25", which makes it the go-to size for sports team photos, graduation portraits, memorial keepsakes, and proud-grandparent buttons.
- School spirit and events. Mascots, field day, honor roll, student elections, and class-of buttons for graduation season.
- Library and reading programs. Summer reading milestones, Banned Books Week, and program giveaways patrons actually keep.
- Church and nonprofit fundraising. VBS themes, mission trips, donor recognition, and awareness campaigns.
- Band and event merch. A bigger canvas than the small sizes — full album art and tour dates fit comfortably.
- Weddings and milestone parties. Photo favors, anniversary celebrations, and reunion buttons.
- Name and staff buttons. Readable name buttons for volunteers, vendors, and event staff.
Compatible Machines & Cutters
These sets are designed and tested with American Button Machines' 2.25" equipment lineup, so every component crimps consistently from the first button to the five-thousandth.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in each 2.25" pinback button set?
Each set contains the three components needed to make one complete button: a metal front shell, a clear mylar cover that protects your design, and a back with a locking spring pinback. No glue or adhesive is needed — your button maker crimps all three pieces together with your printed design in one press.
What is the metric size of a 2.25" button?
A 2.25" button measures exactly 57.15 mm in diameter. It is commonly listed as the nominal "58 mm" size, but the parts themselves are built to the American Standard 2.25" specification — not the metric 58 mm specification used by most foreign manufacturers.
Will these sets work in my foreign-made 58 mm button machine?
Typically, no. American Standard 2.25" parts (57.15 mm) and foreign-made "58 mm" machines sound like the same size, but the fraction-of-a-millimeter difference prevents a proper crimp — buttons may jam the die or fail to lock together. These sets are designed and tested for the ABM 2.25" Button Maker and other American Standard 2.25" presses. If you are not sure what machine you have, call us at (972) 985-5074 before ordering.
Will these sets work in my Badge-a-Minit machine?
No. Badge-a-Minit machines use their own sizing specification and a larger 2.750" graphic cut, so standard 2.25" parts will not crimp correctly in them. We carry a dedicated 2.25" B.A.M. Pinback Button Set made specifically for manual Badge-a-Minit machines, along with B.A.M. mylar and magnet sets.
What size should I print and cut my graphics?
Graphics for 2.25" buttons must be cut to 2.625" in diameter — the extra material wraps around the shell's edge during pressing. The 2.25" Graphic Punch cuts this exact size in standard paper, and the 2.25" Photo Punch handles thicker photo paper. You can also dial in 2.625" on the Adjustable Circle Cutter.
