Already paid sales tax on an order?

Sales tax that was already charged on a completed order can’t be refunded after the order goes through. Submitting your exemption certificate before you check out is what keeps tax off — once your account is set to exempt, tax drops off your current and future orders, but a charge on an order that has already finalized can’t be reversed.

Charged tax on a past order? You may still be able to recover it when you file your sales & use tax return with your state. Many tax-exempt organizations reconcile tax paid to vendors on their state filing — check with your state’s department of revenue or your tax advisor.
