Magnet Maker Machines & Supplies

This is where you buy a magnet maker. American Button Machines carries complete magnet making kits, magnet maker machines in every standard size, and the bulk magnet sets and magnet backs that keep a working press running. Every magnet machine below presses a printed design, a steel shell, and a protective mylar cover into a finished refrigerator magnet in seconds.

Start with the kits and machines in the first section, then match your supplies by size in the second. Round magnet presses start at $294.95 and every press is backed by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Schools, libraries, churches, and nonprofits can order on a purchase order.

Step 1: Get Your Magnet Maker

A magnet press and a button press are the same machine — the back parts you load decide whether a pin, a keychain, or a magnet comes off the press. Complete kits bundle the press, matching cutter, and starter supplies in one order; round machines are the affordable way to start; and the square and rectangle presses are dedicated systems for wallet-sized photos and Instagram-style formats.

Complete Magnet Making Kits

Everything you need in one box — machine, matching cutter, and starter magnet supplies, ready for production the day it arrives. Every complete kit includes a free three-month Build-a-Button design software membership.

Which Magnet Size Do You Need?

Match the size to the job — each format below pairs with its matching press and supply sets.

Size & Shape What It's Best For
1" Round Reward tokens, locker magnets, mini designs
1.25" Round Logos, small giveaways
1.5" Round Name-badge scale designs
1.75" Round Mid-size logos and artwork
2.25" Round The all-purpose size — events, fundraisers, market tables
3" Round Photo magnets, statement pieces
3.5" Round The largest round photo format
2"x2" Square Square logos, classroom rewards, 2x2 photo magnets
2"x3" Rectangle — Photo Wallet-photo keepsakes, portraits, memorials
2"x3" Rectangle — Paper Printed-paper rectangle designs

Still deciding? The logic in our button size guide applies to magnets too — same shells, same dies.

The payback math. When you create magnets yourself, the per-unit cost is the supply set — as low as $0.19 for a 2.25" round magnet in bulk. Finished photo magnets commonly sell for $5 at markets and craft fairs. At a $5 price, a $294.95 round press covers its own cost inside the first 65 magnets you sell; a complete 2"x2" square system pays for itself by around 500. Everything after that is margin on a machine built to run for years.

Who Makes Magnets With ABM Equipment

Photographers, Market Vendors & Small Businesses

A photo magnet maker turns a session photo or a booth snapshot into a product you can sell on the spot. Portrait and event photographers add magnets as print-package upsells, market and craft-fair vendors run tables of original designs, and small businesses press logo magnets that stay on customers' refrigerators for years. Start with a round press and one magnet set size, and add formats as demand proves out.

Schools, Libraries, Churches & Nonprofits

Institutional buyers have used ABM presses for spirit days, summer reading programs, VBS weeks, donor recognition, and volunteer appreciation since 2005. One machine serves the whole organization: buttons for the fundraiser, magnets for the keepsake table, keychains for the gift shop. We accept school and institutional purchase orders, and our team will quote a machine-and-supplies package for your budget cycle — call (972) 985-5074 or request a quote.

Quality & Warranty

American Button Machines has sold and supported pressing equipment from Plano, Texas since 2005. Every magnet press machine we sell is USA-built and backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and our magnet sets are made in the USA of premium-grade materials — the same components we run on our own machines. If a press ever gives you trouble, you call us and talk to the people who sold it to you.

Magnet Maker FAQ

What machine do I need to start making magnets?

Any ABM round button maker doubles as a magnet maker machine — the magnet is created by the supply set you load, not by a different press. A $294.95 round press plus a matching self-adhesive magnet set is the least expensive way to start. For square or rectangle photo magnets, you need the dedicated 2"x2" or 2"x3" press, because rectangular shells require a matching rectangular die.

Can a button maker make magnets?

Yes. A button magnet maker and a pinback button maker are the same machine. Swap the pinned back for a magnet set component and the same press produces finished magnets. Many operators run buttons in the morning and magnets in the afternoon on one machine.

What is a magnetic button maker kit and what comes in it?

A complete kit bundles the press, a matching cutter, and starter supplies so everything fits together out of the box. Our square and rectangle magnet making kits ship ready for production, and every complete kit includes a free three-month Build-a-Button design software membership.

Do you sell a magnet printing machine?

No — and you do not need one. Our presses work with any ordinary inkjet or laser printer: you print the design on paper or photo stock, and the press seals it behind protective mylar. That is what keeps per-magnet costs low compared to dedicated printing systems.

Are you a magnet manufacturer? Can you make custom magnets for me?

We are not a fridge magnet manufacturer that prints finished magnets for you — we sell the machines and supplies so you can make them yourself, at a per-magnet cost far below custom-print pricing. If you need 100 magnets once, a custom printer may be simpler. If you will need magnets more than once, one press pays for itself quickly and puts production on your own schedule.

What size should I choose for photo magnets?

The 2"x3" rectangle matches a wallet-photo layout and holds portraits without aggressive cropping, which makes it the standard photo format. The 2"x2" square suits logo work and square-crop photos — 2x2 photo magnets read like a framed print in miniature. Round 3" and 3.5" sets give a circular crop with generous canvas.

How do I make picture magnets?

Every ABM press follows the same short cycle: design and print your artwork or photo, cut the graphic to size with a circle cutter or punch cutter matched to your press, press the shell, graphic, and mylar together in one pull of the handle, and finish by adding the magnet back. Watch a full press cycle in the video below, read the refrigerator magnet tutorial on our blog, or browse the video library.

Do you offer free magnet templates or design software?

Yes. Download free button and magnet templates for every size we sell — each template is pre-sized with the correct bleed for its die. You can also design online with Build-a-Button, our browser-based design center: the free demo is open to everyone with no account required, and every complete kit purchase includes a free three-month full membership.

How strong are the finished magnets?

The peel-and-stick sets use a flexible 0.060"-thick magnet that reliably holds the finished piece plus a sheet or two of paper on a refrigerator or steel cabinet. If you prefer a traditional solid ceramic disc over a flexible adhesive magnet, choose the 1" ceramic magnet sets or the ceramic magnet packs for pinned back buttons.

How much does each magnet cost to make?

The supply set is the whole per-unit cost. In bulk packs that runs as low as $0.16 per magnet for 1" round and about $0.19 to $0.35 for the most popular sizes, per the size table above. There is no per-press fee, ink system, or consumable beyond the set itself and your printer paper.

Do you accept school or library purchase orders?

Yes. We have supplied schools, libraries, churches, and nonprofits since 2005 and accept institutional purchase orders — see our purchase order page or call (972) 985-5074 and we will put together a quote your business office can process.
